Glenn Rogers came to serve as Director of Missions for our Seminole Baptist Association in April of 2009. He and his family had been serving the Lord as Southern Baptist Missionaries in Nevada. Most of that time was as Evangelism and Prayer Director.
Glenn came to know Christ in a personal saving way on August 2, 1970.
Glenn graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone NC and also served our country in the US Army Reserve while teaching school and coaching football in Florida. It was during this season of life that God clearly called him to “preach the Gospel”.
He and Bonnie have been married since 1976. After 14 years of waiting on the Lord and believing Him for a child, David was born to them. David was saved in 2006 and enjoys music. He is an accomplished Violinist and Composer.
Bonnie was born in St Petersburg Florida. She enjoys being a homemaker and is a diligent soul-winner. She is a sought after Ladies Bible teacher and counselor to women.
In their first year of marriage Glenn and Bonnie were privileged to attend the Capernwray Missionary Bible School in England founded by Ian Thomas. After this, Glenn attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis Tennessee where he graduated with the Masters of Divinity in 1981.
He served on the staff of Bellevue Baptist Church while in Seminary under the leadership of the late Dr. Adrian Rogers. It was there that God moved His call to preach into a call to be a pastor.
He served as a Pastor for 20 years with a church in Florida and two churches in Tennessee. Looking back on those nearly 20 years, Glenn says, “God moved in some incredible and surprising ways as we sought to “make disciples”. All those experiences and relationships along with the years out west as a SBC Missionary have helped prepare him for the present ministry with the churches of the Seminole Association. During these days he sought God through prayer and fasting for the victory we now call the “Conservative Resurgence.” He now longs to see the Gospel we have defended be proclaimed in God honoring purity and life changing power.
Glenn has had interesting recreational pursuits through the years, including hunting and fishing and loading ammunition. The most interesting perhaps is his love of horses. For almost 18 years he rode and raised good quarter horses.
He desires to “help churches make disciples”. He seeks to do this through God’s Holy Spirit working in and through him to encourage Pastors and church leaders and helping them to “equip the saints.” Glenn longs for revival in our churches, is diligent about what might hinders this.
“Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” (Acts 5:20) is a command he takes personally.
